Sarah is a great teacher! She has vast knowledge and skill and her relaxed smiling attitude would put anyone at ease. I love her method because she constantly explores new strategies to improve my technique and it is always fun! I was pretty nervous at first, because even though I have some small experience from singing in a choir as a child, I felt like a complete beginner, not even able to read music. However, Sarah is always quick to ease my worries and answer any doubt that I might have. She is flexible and attentive to her pupil’s needs and character and goes out of her way to adapt her teaching to the individual. I have always loved singing but felt like I was quite bad at it. I feel a lot more confident now and I look forward to every appointment with Sarah to learn to use my voice better and better!

Sarah was my singing teacher for several years until she and her family moved from Canada to Germany. I looked forward to our weekly lessons and my husband claims that I went from a “tinny mouse” to a much improved singer! Sarah was very enthusiastic and encouraging and we worked a lot on breath work and singing exercises. She is obviously a beautiful singer herself and very passionate about sharing her love of singing with others. Her many years of experience as both a student and teacher of voice makes her knowledgeable about a broad range of techniques as well as the physiology behind singing. I was very comfortable learning from her and felt that I could expand my voice while still protecting it and keeping it healthy. I miss Sarah and our lessons and wish her all the best in Frankfurt!

The way Sarah ties in many different aspects of singing, acting, body movement is quite amazing. Sarah teaches lasting practical strategies for practicing and performing in a way that’s fun and immersive… These lessons reminded me to allow my jaw and tongue tension to get out of the way and just let me sing. It’s opened up better pronunciation, better stamina, and a more pleasant overall singing experience for me… Working with the eyes and the jaw both released a bunch of tension that I was holding during singing. By releasing that tension, I also felt a release in my lower breath support. I didn’t realize how strongly tension in one local area of the body could inform or affect tension in the entire voice. Just by kindly showing curiosity towards one part of my body, a world of singing freedom opened up for me.
— Chris Mayell, M.Mus
I will continue to practice the jaw and tongue releasing class, as this greatly impacted the release in my jaw, and my singing was a new experience… Singing before and after classes showed me marked improvements in my awareness and ability to make corrections in my own practice. Sarah is a compassionate and realistic teacher that makes the classes clear, fun and educational! I look forward to recommending Sarah’s classes to my voice students as well.

Sarah’s Feldenkrais classes helped me to find an increased awareness and openness in my body. As a singer, this increased awareness from my head to my toes was a thrilling feeling. …I was able to break away from my habitual acting habits and express a more sincere character. It is truly amazing how after one lesson with Sarah your body can feel so free and expansive.
— Jennifer Cyr, Soprano, DMA
For years I have unknowingly used my body in inefficient ways on stage, but with Sarah ‘s help, I was able to unlock a lot of my potential as an actress and a singer. Even in those performances I did right after the training, I had much more confidence in my movements and my acting. I really felt in control of my body. I can’t thank Sarah enough for all of her help.
— Karen Santos, soprano, B.Mus.
To have immediate access to emotional sources and to allow emotional energy to flow unblocked through a free body demands some re-ordering of the brain’s priorities. Feldenkrais offers a detailed road-map with which to explore one’s territory and make conscious decisions about its use.
